Tapeworm is an arcade game where you control a growing worm trying to eat all the fruit in a confined space. As you consume each piece your body lengthens making navigation trickier. The catch is avoiding collision with your own tail or the screen's edges which ends the game. Single player is a test of reflexes but the two-player mode turns it into a direct race where opponents can block each other's paths adding an extra layer of strategy. Despite its simple premise the game's difficulty spikes quickly as your worm becomes harder to maneuver. The Atari 2600's hardware limitations add to the challenge with pixelated collisions that require precise timing. Retro players appreciate how it turns basic mechanics into a tense experience often cited as one of the more unpredictable titles from early arcade adaptations. It's a short-lived but sharp example of 80s gaming ingenuity.
