Taz-Mania is a platformer where you control the frenetic Tasmanian Devil chasing a giant seabird’s egg across 16 distinct levels. Each stage throws new obstacles at you from deserts to factories to ancient ruins. Taz’s main move is his spinning whirlwind attack which lets him bash through enemies and break barriers. You can collect items like peppers for fire breath or bombs to fling at foes while health pickups keep you from getting devoured by the many traps and creatures trying to stop you. The game leans into Taz’s chaotic energy with fast paced action and a focus on creative combat. The Sega Mega Drive version stands out for its tight level design and colorful environments that stretch from jungles to industrial zones. Released in 1992 it captures the cartoon’s zany spirit with simple but responsive controls. Players can munch on just about anything to either heal or trigger attacks adding a layer of playful experimentation. While not as celebrated as later platformers its mix of speed and snack-based strategy made it a cult favorite among fans of 90s arcade-style action.
Taz, the Tasmanian Devil, is hungry, and on the prowl! But his hunting ground is loaded with treacherous Taz-stopping obstacles! Help Taz whomp his enemies and spin past the barrioeres. And remember, if you can't beat 'em, eat 'em.
