Tecmo Secret of the Stars is a turn-based RPG where you split your attention between two groups. The Aquitallion handles the main story, tackling quests and exploring key zones. A second team lets you freely roam dungeons for loot and side tasks. Battles play out from a first-person perspective with grid-based positioning, demanding careful strategy against enemies. As you progress you unlock tools to design and manage your own settlement adding a layer of base-building to the adventure. The game’s dual-party system creates a distinct rhythm balancing story and self-directed exploration. While not as widely known as some 90s RPGs it earned a cult following for its depth and variety. Players appreciate the mix of structured progression and open-ended grinding. Its SNES release date and mechanics owe clear debt to early Dragon Quest but the town-building twist feels ahead of its time.
