Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade Attack is a side-scrolling beat 'em up and fighting game from Ubisoft Nagoya. Released in 2009 for Nintendo DS, it pits the four ninja turtles against Shredder’s forces in a single-player campaign. Gameplay focuses on chaining combos, using signature weapons, and taking down hordes of enemies. The story involves stopping Cyber Shredder’s time-traveling schemes, blending past and future battles with familiar TMNT antagonists. The game leans heavily into retro arcade vibes, with straightforward combat and pixel-art inspired visuals. It features classic villains like Purple Dragons and Foot Ninjas, plus cameos from TMNT baddies. Sam Regal, known for voicing Donatello, also penned the cutscenes. While not critically acclaimed, it appeals to long-time fans craving nostalgic TMNT action.
The game's plot seems to come sometime after TMNT: Back to the Sewer's conclusion, although there are some slight inconsistencies which prevent it from being canon to the show. Cyber Shredder has returned, this time in the distant future. He has sent a Golden Cyber Foot back to the past to test a time travel device. The Turtles then go off on an adventure to stop Cyber Shredder from reaching the present. Along the way, they topple many Purple Dragons, Foot Ninja, and some well-known TMNT villains. All of the games cut-scenes were written by Sam Regal who also voices Donatello.
