Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Dimension X Assault is a handheld action game built for Tiger Electronics’ LCD system. Players guide one of the four mutant turtles through top down levels filled with enemies traps and puzzle elements. The simple control scheme revolves around movement attacks and item collection with progression tied to clearing stages. The 1995 release sticks to the franchise’s core with a focus on quickfire combat and basic platforming. Its portable design makes it easy to play in short bursts though the lack of save features means starting over after each session. Tied exclusively to the canceled Red Sky episodes of the 1987 cartoon the game features characters and aesthetics not seen elsewhere in the franchise. Packaging art by Ken Mitchroney and Chris Allan adds nostalgic value for longtime fans. Its mechanics are basic by today’s standards but the title endures as a niche curiosity. Limited to a small audience it’s mostly remembered for linking to a forgotten part of TMNT history.
