Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled is a side-scrolling brawler that revives a 1990s arcade classic. Players control one of four Turtles as they punch, kick, and weapon-swing through levels spanning ancient Egypt, the Old West, and futuristic New York. The story follows the Turtles chasing Shredder through time after he steals the Statue of Liberty. Combat leans on simple button mashing but gains depth from combo chains and environmental hazards. Up to two players can team up locally, working together to dispatch hordes of Foot Clan soldiers and dodge projectile attacks. The game stands out for its fast-paced action and nostalgic level design. While the 2009 release added updated graphics and online features, the core remains faithful to its arcade roots. Co-op play is a highlight, encouraging teamwork to survive boss fights and timed challenges. Though now delisted from digital stores, it lives on through physical copies and fan communities. Its blend of rapid combat and time-traveling set pieces made it a cult favorite among beat 'em up enthusiasts.
The game begins as the turtles watch a television newscast of April O'Neil reporting from Liberty Island. Suddenly, Krang flies in using his giant exosuit and steals the Statue of Liberty. Immediately thereafter Shredder hijacks the airwaves to laugh at the turtles. They head to downtown New York and pursue the Foot Clan through the streets and the city sewers, where Shredder sends them through a time warp. The turtles then have to fight Shredder's army through multiple eras of time to defeat him.
