About

Tekken Card Challenge is a grid-based strategy game where you navigate a 15x15 map filled with obstacles and enemies. Each turn you spend steps moving toward an exit while fending off villains like Crow, Owl, and Tekken 3 characters. Combat uses cards to perform attacks, with collected items boosting move counts or unlocking new abilities. Shrines heal you but can only be used once, adding risk to every decision. The fog of war hides threats until you stumble into them, forcing careful planning to avoid running out of steps. The blend of tactical movement and card management stands out, especially with the Tekken roster reimagined as turn-based foes. Crow, the game's exclusive character, adds a local flavor absent in Western releases. Despite its 1999 WonderSwan debut and limited reach, the game earned a cult following for its clever resource constraints and the challenge of balancing exploration with survival. Players often note the tension of nearing step limits while battling multiple enemies, a design choice that keeps every move tense.

Storyline

The story mode plays on a 15x15 grid map covered with shrines, villages, and impassible mountains. You will only have a certain number of steps to make it to stage exit or you'll lose. Of course this Harshadic field is populated with a grave propensity of villains. Roving in the dark, for all the area of the world is obscured by 'fog' until the player walks there, are mysterious stormtroopers called Crow, Owl, Eagle. Also wandering the land are Tekken characters who hold long standing grudges against the player's character. Above it all in a high tower is the heinous Ogre, can he be defeated? Along the way cards can be found that will increase the amount of moves that can be performed in combat. Sacred ziggurats exist, two per map, that will heal wounds and, if enough enemies have been defeated since the last shrine, a new form of attack card be obtained. These shrines may not be reentered.
