About

Ten Metre Tide is a visual novel that unfolds through interconnected vignettes tracking three lives tangled in a fading dispute over a remote island. Set in a world where political tensions simmer over Fort Colwyn, a tiny, overlooked landmass slated for industrial takeover, the game skips traditional dialogue in favor of kinetic scenes blending photography, hand-stitched collages, and ambient soundscapes. Each character’s story, ranging from a lifelong resident grappling with displacement to a corporate heiress reckoning with inherited power, unfolds in nonlinear fragments, mirroring how memory and history collide. The game’s quiet strength lies in its layered visuals and deliberate pacing. kazehai’s art merges organic textures with stark political undertones, while the score weaves field recordings and minimalist synth to amplify emotional beats. Though sparse in text, the vignettes pack weight through omission as much as detail. Early access feedback highlights its meditative approach to conflict, balancing personal stakes with broader themes of erasure and ownership. The result is a contemplative, slow-burn narrative that lingers.

Storyline

The era of border setting between the nation of Camden and its neighboring Maitland is long past. After nearly two centuries, just a single land dispute remains: Fort Colwyn, an insignificant island in the shared Bay of Fundy. So insignificant, in fact, that neither country ever cared to seriously stake its claim. But when a Maitlandish industry titan receives permission to use the island as an off-shore facility, a chain of events is set off which culminates in Fort Colwyn's final year of human settlement. A third-generation Colwynite struggles to envision life outside the only home she’s ever known. The ferryman’s daughter becomes an adult as the world of her childhood falls out of existence. A Maitlandish oil heiress attempts to reconcile her past with her past and with her future. Love, blame, memory, history. :: No love, no blame, no memory, no history.
