Terminator 2D: No Fate is a side-scrolling shooter/platformer from Bitmap Bureau, released in December 2025. It reimagines Terminator 2: Judgment Day as a retro-inspired arcade game, blending pixel-perfect visuals with fast-paced combat. You play as Sarah Connor, the T-800, and future John Connor, battling the T-1000 across missions that mix movie scenes with original story beats. The game offers multiple endings tied to your decisions. It’s a love letter to 90s arcade action, available on all major platforms including Switch and PC.
The game plays like a classic side-scroller with modern polish. You alternate between Sarah’s run-and-gun style and the T-800’s heavy-hitting melee attacks. Platforming sections mix jumping over hazards with timed dodges to avoid liquid metal Terminator ambushes. Missions range from defending John in a mall to future warzone dogfights. The controls are tight, with responsive shooting and contextual attacks. Combat feels punchy, but the T-1000’s phase-shifting makes him a frustrating foe. Each character has unique abilities, Sarah’s grenades, the T-800’s plasma cannon, to exploit in boss fights. Sessions average 30, 45 minutes per mission.
PlayPile’s data shows 8.4/10 critic score and 72% community completion rate. Average playtime is 10.5 hours, with 13 achievements (15% platinum rate). Fans praise the art style and nostalgia, but 38% call the story “linear and derivative.” Reviewers highlight the T-800’s tank-like feel but gripe about the T-1000’s hitbox issues. One user wrote, “Pixel T-1000 is cool, but the difficulty spikes are cruel.” 62% of players finish the main story, while 28% abandon after the third mission.
At $29.99, it’s a solid buy for arcade fans and Terminator completists. The pixel art and combat shine, but the rigid story and uneven difficulty might alienate others. Achievements are optional, with 100% requiring multiple playthroughs. Skip if you want deep narrative or open-world freedom. Worth it for nostalgia and tight 2D action.
Experience the events of ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day’ brought to life through glorious pixel artwork and action-packed arcade gameplay! Play as Sarah Connor and the T-800 through a variety of thrilling missions as they take on the T-1000 and try to put a stop to Skynet’s plans before the human race is annihilated. Lead the Resistance as John Connor in the future, fighting on the front lines as mankind’s only hope in the War Against the Machines. In this unique story blending iconic scenes from ‘Terminator 2: Judgment Day’ with original scenarios and multiple endings, humanity’s fate is yours to decide.

Here's my review for Terminator 2D: No Fate. It might be a short game, but it also recreates one of the greatest movies ever made with excellent 16-bit visuals and music, while also paying loving homage to the games of that era. www.gamespot.com/reviews/term...

#justbeatit Terminator 2D: No Fate. This run and gun excels at retelling the Terminator 2 story in “retro” video game form. It’s fun as hell and gameplay is quite varied in its short run time. It offers some alternate paths and modes, but may be a bit thin for the price @polykillpodcast.bsky.social

I reviewed Terminator 2D: No Fate and while I've never seen any of these movies, I was washed in Sega Genesis arcade-like nostalgia. This game is really fun.

First playthrough of Terminator 2D: No Fate completed If this was released to arcades in 1992 it would have made all the money. Highly recommend it if you like this sort of game, just make sure to play on a higher difficulty. Was pretty easy to blaze through on the medium difficulty setting
