Tetris Plus adds a few twists to the iconic block-stacking formula. Versus mode pits two players against each other in competitive matches while Edit mode lets you design custom challenges. The controls feel tight and responsive across all modes with straightforward mechanics that emphasize speed and strategy. The Puzzle mode stands out with its simple narrative hook of rescuing a character through precise clearing. Though released in 1995 it holds up as a solid entry in the Tetris family with its varied modes and creative freedom. The inclusion of multiplayer and level editing was ahead of its time for puzzle games on arcade and early consoles.
