About

The Abettor's Letters is a point-and-click adventure that originally launched on the iPad through an unfinished Kickstarter campaign. You play as agent Carsen Brooks, who travels to France to uncover a criminal plot for a shadowy employer. The core loop involves deciphering French conversations hidden throughout each level to gather clues and solve the mystery before time runs out. You need to learn enough of the language to pass as a local while navigating the investigation on your own without any multiplayer options. What sets this title apart is its genuine integration of language learning into the gameplay rather than treating it as an afterthought. Players report that the French lessons feel necessary to progress, which makes the experience more engaging than standard detective games. The community data suggests a dedicated following despite the project's shaky funding history. It stands as a complete package for those who want to practice a new language while solving a spy thriller. The developer Beach Alt Ed managed to finish the game and deliver a solid single-player story that respects the player's time and intelligence.
