The Attack is a single-player shooter where you pilot a ship battling alien spores that multiply and evolve. Small spores cluster into larger aliens that chase you, forcing you to destroy them before they overwhelm your screen. Scattered incubators add urgency by spawning new threats, starting with harmless spores but later birthing full aliens. Your goal is to clear each wave using basic but responsive shooting mechanics. The game ramps up difficulty by introducing more aggressive enemies and tighter spawning as you progress. Despite its 1981 release and simple graphics, the game’s escalating tension and reflex-based gameplay made it a standout for the TI-99 platform. Its core loop of deflection and destruction influenced later arcade-style shooters. While lacking modern frills, it remains a brisk, punishing test of precision.
