The Brutal Ballad of Fangus Klot was a planned shooter and adventure title set in the Oddworld universe. You play as Fangus, a sheep herder who starts by protecting his flock from predators. When outsiders arrive to take over, he must switch roles to save the species. The twist is that Fangus has rabies, so your actions become increasingly erratic as the disease spreads through his mind. You race against time to stop the invasion before losing your sanity completely. This was the first Oddworld game intended for an M rating due to its darker tone and violent gameplay. The project never launched because of development issues, which makes any footage or details feel rare for fans. It stands out as a darker take on the series that focused on mental decline rather than just corporate greed. Oddworld Inhabitants aimed for a grittier narrative here, moving away from the whimsical style of earlier entries. Although it remains cancelled, its existence shows how far the studio was willing to push the boundaries of the franchise before pulling back.
Fangus is a shepherd who dutifully wards off predators, until one day, invaders arrive. Fangus is then forced to rise to the occasion, assuming the role of savior of all Oddworldian nations. Meanwhile, rabies slowly begins to turn him mad, and he must make haste in thwarting the invaders' plans before his mind is completely lost.
