In this 1983 adventure game you play a champion tasked with retrieving the final shard of a shattered magical mirror. The tyrannical King Voar rules the medieval village of Starbury with absolute control, his four existing mirror pieces granting him near-omniscient surveillance. Your goal is to navigate the kingdom’s locations, gather clues, and evade Voar’s constant watch to locate the missing fragment. The gameplay focuses on exploration and logical problem solving as you piece together how to outmaneuver a ruler who knows nearly everything about your movements. Despite its age the game remains a sharp example of early adventure design, blending stealth and strategy in a text-driven format. Over 40 years old yet still praised for its clever puzzle structure and tense atmosphere, it challenges players to balance risk with observation. The stakes feel high even by modern standards thanks to Voar’s relentless pursuit and the weight of restoring balance to a broken land.
The once placid medival village of Starbury groans under the iron-fisted rule of the black-hearted, squinty-eyed King Voar. The dazzling Mirror that the wizard Munjistan once used to protect Starbury is now broken into five pieces, of which Voar the Vermin has four. The power of the whole mirror is absolute, and the tyrant will stop at nothing to find the missing piece. However, should a champion find it first, Voar's power can be broken. Champions are scarce these days, for Voar is virtually omniscient, able to spy on his enemies at all times. You may not aspire to being a champion, but your first meeting with Voar will change that. Do you have the ingenuity to find the Coveted Mirror?
