The Fallen Angels is a 2D fighter with a gritty edge. It emphasizes grounded movement and real-world physics while still letting characters unleash explosive special moves. Combat feels weighty and deliberate with eight distinct fighters each with their own playstyles. Only three characters have projectiles making ranged tactics rare. Matches play out in tight arenas where positioning matters more than button mashing. Single player offers a story mode while local multiplayer lets friends test skills head to head. Set in a crumbling city-state called Eden the game’s narrative unfolds through sparse dialogue and environmental storytelling. A decade of societal collapse fuels the fighters’ clashes though the plot takes a backseat to the mechanics. The game’s cult following cites its balanced combat and the unusual focus on realistic motion capture for its era. While not a genre-definer it carved a niche among players who prefer tactical brawling over flashy showmanship. TheSteelHearts’ design choices feel ahead of their time in an arcade scene dominated by hyper stylized fighters.
The earthquake that struck the city at 7:13 A.M. on February 10, 2000, measured 7 on the richter scale. The veneer of peace that had been maintained in the city's streets by total information control suddenly vanished, and the computer-controlled concrete jungle stopped functioning. A major shift in the Earth's crust had severed the city from its surrounding landform, leaving it an island with virtually no outside contact. Money-crazed inhabitants soon lashed out for the city's remaining but useless vestiges of power, preaching salvation while hiding their wicked motives. Sex, crime and drugs ruled the streets, as the city began to decay. Ironically, they called the wretched remains of their city "Eden- the last paradise." It is now a decade later. The year is 2010.
