The Forage uses your phone’s GPS to let you gather hidden items scattered in the real world. A device called the Magnetron scans your surroundings and collects artifacts automatically as you move. No internet connection is needed and battery use stays light making it easy to play while walking or running errands. Each find adds to your collection of pixel-art objects with new items added over time. The game avoids the intensity of other location-based titles by letting you explore at your own pace. Players note the Magnetron’s low power draw and the freedom to wander without chasing specific goals. The hand-drawn pixel style gives each item charm while the lack of data requirements keeps it accessible. Though quiet in promotion the game has steadily grown a small but dedicated audience since its 2018 release.
