About

The Frogs is a point-and-click adventure where you play as Dionysus trying to bring back old comedy stars from the dead. You navigate through Renaissance paintings while dealing with terrible puns and constant fourth wall breaks. The game mixes ancient Greek humor with 18th century classical music and visual styles that clash on purpose. Your goal is simple enough but the path involves surviving a chaotic journey through Hades where nothing makes logical sense. This title stands out because it leans hard into its own identity crisis without trying to hide it. Michael Wells created something that feels like a fever dream rather than a polished commercial product. Reviews on PlayPile suggest players either love the absurdity or find the tone exhausting, but there is no middle ground. The art direction shifts styles constantly to match the mood of each scene. You will spend most of your time solving puzzles that rely more on wit than traditional logic. It does not try to be accessible and that is exactly why some people keep coming back to it.

Storyline

Dionysus is fed up. The kids these days listening to their mumble poets and warbling tragedians are just too much for him to bear. He wants to bring back the stars of his youth... but they're all dead. A little death never kept a good god down, though, and certainly not a heroic figure with bulging biceps and a penchant for bashing heads. So Dionysus, being at least one of those two things, hatches a plan so he can also pass himself off as the latter.
