This light gun shooter adds new twists to the zombie-slaying formula. Set between the second and third games in the series, it casts players as agents James Taylor or Kate Green navigating a collapsing underground facility. The focus is on frantic co-op action with friends or strangers. Aim carefully through corridors teeming with undead threats while solving environmental puzzles. Arcade and PlayStation 3 versions offer slightly different stage counts and control schemes. The claustrophobic atmosphere and sudden bursts of violence keep tension high. A mid-game earthquake adds urgency to your escape. While not as celebrated as earlier entries it maintains the series' signature mix of horror and chaos. The PlayStation Move support felt awkward to many but shows developers took risks. Community play sessions often highlight the awkward thrill of sharing a light gun with a stranger.
In 2003, veteran AMS agent James Taylor and rookie Kate Green gather intelligence at the fifth basement floor of the AMS' European headquarters. James suspects that the events of the 2000 Goldman case have not ended. A sudden earthquake rocks the room, collapsing the basement walls and trapping the agents. Several days later, while awaiting backup, James' PDA goes off; hordes of creatures appear on the security cameras. James and Kate arm themselves and escape. In a classified information room, they uncover a plot to fire nuclear missiles worldwide within 24 hours' time.
