The Last Mission casts you as a mechanical spy robot navigating a hostile enemy base. Your goal is to snatch stolen defense blueprints and escape to a waiting spaceship. The action unfolds in top-down scrolling levels where you dodge bullets, avoid patrols, and blast through guards. Each screen is a maze of tight corridors and exposed hallways that force quick decisions. This 1987 DOS/Spectrum shooter has developed a small but dedicated following. The difficulty curve is steep but fair, with some level layouts that still feel clever today. While simple graphics won't impress modern eyes, the relentless pacing and precise controls keep it feeling responsive. A few speedrun groups keep it alive online, with completion times averaging under 15 minutes for skilled players. Its age shows in the art but not in the gameplay.
