The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past on Game Boy Advance is a top down action adventure rooted in exploration and clever puzzle solving. You play as Link navigating Hyrule to stop the sorcerer Agahnim from destroying the world. The game splits time between overworld traversal and dungeon crawling each requiring precise item use and strategic thinking. A portable version adds new layers with modified mechanics and an expanded story path that reshapes the experience after finishing the main campaign. This port introduces fresh challenges including a bonus dungeon requiring completion of Four Swords. While retaining the core 16 bit magic of the 1991 SNES original it tweaks details like character audio and movement to fit handheld play. With over 5 million copies sold on Game Boy Advance it remains a benchmark for 2D adventure design. The extra content rewards repeat playthroughs without overshadowing the legendary foundation that made the original a classic.
The wizard Agahnim has been abducting descendants of the seven sages, intent on using their power to obliterate the barrier leading to the Dark World. One of the descendants happens to be Princess Zelda, who informs Link of her plight. Armed with a trusty sword and shield, Link begins a journey that will take him through treacherous territory.
