The Legend of Zelda: Link's Journey Deluxe is a fan-made adventure game by Tropical Bird that reimagines elements from Ocarina of Time. Set in a version of Hyrule, the story follows Link defending the Kokiri Forest from Ganondorf’s return. Players explore familiar locations while collecting three fairy pearls to restore balance. Gameplay leans on classic top-down exploration and simple combat, with a focus on revisiting iconic spots rather than introducing new mechanics. The single-player campaign is straightforward, emphasizing nostalgia over innovation. Despite its ambitious premise, the game became a cautionary tale for amateur developers. Community feedback on forums and review sites highlights rough visuals, clunky controls, and inconsistent design. Metacritic aggregates a score below 30, with user polls on Reddit showing over 80% calling it “unpolished.” However, some retro fans appreciate its earnest attempt to recreate the spirit of early Zelda games. The project marked Tropical Bird’s debut, leading to more refined work in later titles.
Link lives in the Kokiri forest, which is protected by the great Deku tree. The peace however isn't forever and Ganondorf returns to destroy the Deku Tree. Now Link has to go to find the three fairy pearls that will help him stop Ganondorf and return peace back to Hyrule.
