The Quest of Ki is a punishing side-scrolling platformer built around precise movement and tight level design. You play as Ki, a priestess navigating a 100-level tower filled with enemies and environmental hazards. Each floor requires collecting a key to progress, but touching anything from floating ghosts to floor-dwelling wizards resets the stage. Ki can't attack, her tools are a directional dash and a jump that keeps rising as long as you hold the button. The catch: hit the ceiling and you’ll drop instantly, leaving you vulnerable to enemies while stunned. Many floors act as mini-puzzles, demanding calculated bounces and pathfinding to avoid deadly traps. What makes this stand out is its relentless difficulty paired with clever design. Temporary power-ups in treasure chests offer boosts like extra lives or invincibility, though their effects vanish once you leave the floor. After beating the main game, 40 bonus levels introduce cameos from Namco's Pac-Man and Dig Dug universes, blending in-house IP nostalgia with the same punishing logic.
