The Safe Place is a point-and-click adventure that focuses on narrative over action. You follow a story centered on childhood struggles and difficult decisions shaped by personal relationships. The gameplay mixes dialogue choices and environmental puzzles to progress through key moments. While the mechanics stay simple, the script leans heavily into emotional beats and moral ambiguity. The game’s strength lies in its unflinching approach to sensitive themes like poverty and sacrifice. It avoids flashy set pieces in favor of quiet, character-driven moments. Available on PC and major consoles since late 2022, it’s a shorter experience clocking in under five hours. Players looking for a story-focused title with minimal combat or complex systems might find it compelling.
An ordinary engineer named Alexander, who lived in a post-Soviet city in the early 90's, just in the midst of the economic crisis, as well as a 12-year-old girl Christina with a difficult fate. He killed a man by negligence. She was a witness. Fearing responsibility, Alexander hides all traces of his crime and persuades the girl to remain silent about what she saw. However, in turn, she asks Alexander to help her solve her own problems. At first, this seems like a good deal to Alexander, but later on things went all wrong.
