The Sekimeiya: Spun Glass is a visual novel wrapped in a locked-room mystery. You play through a tense narrative where eight characters are sealed inside a smoke-filled building during a gem exhibition. The story unfolds with dialogue choices and investigative mechanics like line search and jump functions to piece together clues. Puzzles blend with character interactions to drive the plot forward as you uncover why everyone is trapped and what secrets the Ashiya family is hiding. The game runs on most major platforms including Switch and PC offering a single-player experience with branching paths. The writing leans into slow-burn tension and shifting alliances. Subtlety in dialogue and environmental storytelling lets mysteries emerge organically rather than through exposition. Player decisions influence how relationships develop and what truths surface. With 120 hours of playtime reported by some fans the game rewards careful attention to detail. It’s not a fast-paced thriller but the deliberate pacing and atmospheric dread have earned it a 78% on Metacritic from critics who praised its moody atmosphere and layered narrative.
In the rural town of Yushibana, the Ashiya family holds much of the wealth. After they discover a rare gemstone, a showing is scheduled in Ashiya Tower, drawing the attention of many of the townspeople. However, during the exhibit, the tower is flooded with smoke, activating emergency shutters that trap eight people inside. With no way out, they must find the truth behind their imprisonment and grapple with an increasingly complex series of unnatural events.
