The Sentinel is a 1980s puzzle-strategy game built around careful planning and avoiding a deadly gaze. You navigate a layered 3D landscape with hills and valleys, starting at the lowest level. The goal is to absorb the giant Sentinel statue at the top while managing limited energy. Every few seconds the Sentinel scans the area if you’re in sight you teleport with 5 seconds to move or risk energy drain. To progress you must create objects like robot hulls boulders and trees each consuming energy. Trees block vision boulders help climb higher and robot hulls let you teleport safely by absorbing old ones. Later levels add enemy Sentries and tricky hazards that force sudden jumps. What makes The Sentinel endure is its clever use of resource management and spatial puzzles. The 9999 levels generate endless variations but true mastery lies in maximizing energy to boost future progress. Retro platform fans often note its deep tactics despite simple visuals. With its blend of tension and methodical strategy it’s a cult classic that still rewards careful play over brute force.
