About

A retro RPG with a first-person perspective The Shadows of Sergoth tasks players with exploring darkened corridors and ancient ruins as a warrior armed with magical runes. Developed by Kukulcan and released in late 2018 it’s built for the Amstrad CPC 6128 a platform known for its distinctive 8-bit charm. Combat and exploration take place in a single-player format focusing on navigating tight spaces and solving environmental puzzles. The game’s design leans heavily into moody visuals and atmospheric tension with a plot centered on uncovering corruption in the kingdom of Chrisandia. What sets Sergoth apart is its dedication to the Amstrad CPC’s hardware delivering a cohesive experience that feels tailored to the system’s limitations and strengths. The rune-based mechanics add a layer of strategy to encounters requiring players to manage abilities carefully. While it lacks modern polish the game’s deliberate pacing and retro aesthetic have earned it a small but dedicated following among retro gaming circles. Released on December 31 2018 it remains a niche title for those looking to explore forgotten RPG formats.
