Play as Elliot, a hiker who stumbles into a magical realm after answering an elf’s midnight call. This point-and-click puzzle game tasks you with transforming into various animals to navigate four distinct environments, land, sea, air, and ice, each requiring specific creature abilities. Time is limited: your shapeshifting power vanishes at dawn, forcing quick thinking to solve environmental puzzles and outwit the wizard’s curse. The Game Boy’s tiny screen packs cleverly designed 8-bit visuals and a brisk, humorous story with a surprisingly deep branching narrative. The game’s charm lies in its tight pacing and inventive use of the hardware’s limitations. Players praise the inventive animal transformations, like using a fish to cross water or a bird to reach high places, while the quirky elf character adds levity to the fantasy stakes. Though short, the five-chapter campaign feels complete, with a retro soundtrack and pixel art that nods to classic adventure games. A cult hit among handheld enthusiasts, it proves big ideas can fit on small screens.
Elliot wakes up in the middle of the night, feeling the cold of the mountain air. He hears a cry for help and meets a little elf who is asking for his help. The elf wants Elliot to save the elf world from a wizard's spell. To do this, the elf gives Elliot a great power: he can become the animal he touches. But there's a catch - the power will fade at dawn, so Elliot must hurry up! As Elliot crosses through the hole in the centennial broccoli tree, he enters the elves world. But nothing is as it seems in this fantasy world, and everything gets more complicated with every step. Elliot must use his shapeshifting power to overcome obstacles and challenges in five chapters full of humour and mystery. Each chapter presents a different environment - land, sea, air, and even under the ice. Choose the animal that best suits each of the environments and help the elf save their world.
