About

The Treasures of Montezuma is a puzzle game where you race against the clock to collect glowing gems by swapping tiles. Each level gives a target number of gems to gather before the timer hits zero. You click pairs to switch their spots, clearing stones and revealing the treasures underneath. You can reshuffle the board twice per level and buy hints by spending points. Mini-games pop up between levels, offering extra chances to earn stars. The game weaves a light adventure around its puzzles. You follow Dr. Emily Jones in 1930s Cancun as she deciphers ancient clues through tile-matching. Her journal and scattered documents slowly hint at a hidden Aztec city. While the story stays in the background, it adds a layer of curiosity to the quick, methodical puzzles. The 2006 release holds up for its tight level design and steady difficulty curve. It’s a straightforward match-3 formula with just enough twists to keep things fresh for casual players.

Storyline

The location is Cancun, Mexico, in 1935 where young Dr. Emily Jones is working at the Archaeological Museum. The discovery of an ancient stone tablet in the museum sparks her interest. She ultimately concludes that solving tile-matching puzzles will lead her to a secret Aztec city. Emily's journal acts as a record of her findings, and newspaper articles and other documents keep the story moving along at a preset pace.
