About

The Watchmaker casts you as Alexander, a clock keeper in a ticking world of brass gears and fractured time. Each day he mends the colossal clock tower that governs his reality until a sabotage throws time into chaos. Rapid aging forces him to race against his own decay, solving mechanical puzzles to restore order. Players navigate shifting environments where time bends unpredictably, manipulating clocks to unlock paths and repair the tower’s core. The game’s standout lies in its tight puzzle design and melancholic narrative. With a Metacritic score of 82, critics praised its clever use of time-based mechanics and atmospheric art style. Running on PS4, PC, Xbox, and Switch, it balances accessibility with depth, offering 8-10 hours of exploration. The story unfolds through sparse but evocative dialogue, hinting at the tower’s secrets without overexplaining. A stealthy but rewarding challenge for puzzle fans, it avoids hand-holding while keeping solutions intuitive.

Storyline

But one day Alexander is awakened by a mysterious voice. This disembodied voice alerts him that something has gone wrong: someone, some unknown being, has sabotaged his beautiful tower. With the clock not working properly, time has gone mad. Consequently, Alexander starts ageing abnormally quickly, leaving him only a handful of time to repair the damage. But Alexander must push on to save the clock and restore time to its natural rhythm, all while gradually uncovering the mysteries of the tower and its even stranger past.
