About They Are Here: Alien Abduction Horror

They Are Here is a first-person horror game developed by DEKLAZON that drops you into the role of journalist Taylor Fox. The story follows Fox as he investigates mysterious activity at Grayswood farm, where a family reports strange lights and animal behavior. You explore the farm and its surroundings with a flashlight as your primary tool. The goal is to find evidence of alien presence through photos while avoiding encounters with unknown threats. Released in late 2026, it’s available on PC and next-gen consoles. The game leans heavily on atmosphere and tension, asking you to piece together a fragmented story through environmental clues. It’s a short but tightly focused experience for fans of slow-burn horror.

Gameplay

You spend most of the game moving cautiously through dark environments, relying on a flashlight that drains quickly. The core loop involves exploring buildings, scanning for anomalies, and snapping photos of strange occurrences like flickering lights or shadowy figures. Combat isn’t a mechanic, you run from threats or hide until they pass. A few puzzles require interacting with objects to unlock areas, but the focus stays on stealth and observation. The game’s tension comes from limited visibility and sudden scares triggered by loud noises. Sessions are short, usually under an hour, with the full story taking around six hours to uncover. Controls are simple, with motion controls on consoles adding to the immersion.

What Players Think

Community ratings average 4.2/5, with 78% of players completing the main story. Average playtime is 6.2 hours, though 30% of reviews mention the story feels underdeveloped. Mood tags highlight "creepy" (89%) and "tense" (76%), but "frustrating" (22%) and "short" (41%) also show up. Critics praise the atmosphere but criticize recycled enemy AI and sparse dialogue. One user wrote, "The jump scares work, but the lack of variation in threats makes it forgettable." Achievement completion is 92%, with most unlocked by collecting photos. The game’s $29.99 price tag divides players, some call it fair for the experience, others see it as overpriced for a six-hour jaunt.

PlayPile's Take

They Are Here is a solid but forgettable horror entry. It works best for fans of minimalist survival horror who prioritize atmosphere over depth. The short runtime and repetitive enemy encounters keep it from standing out, but the eerie setting and photo-based gameplay add charm. At $30, it’s a low-risk purchase if you enjoy tense, short-form horror. Skip it if you prefer complex stories or dynamic gameplay. The achievements are easy, but most won’t stick around long enough to care.

Storyline

The game tells the story of Taylor Fox, the journalist. He comes to the Grayswood farm to shoot a photo documentary about the strange phenomena happening around the place. The farmer’s family reports on bright lights in the sky, violent behavior in animals, and other odd events. But once the journalist comes to the farm he is confronted with far more horrifying things.
