Three Dirty Dwarves is a three-button brawler where two to three players team up as foul-mouthed dwarves armed with sports gear. You’ll swing tennis rackets, hurl javelins, and bash enemies in 20 levels set in absurd locations like garbage-strewn alleys and neon-lit sewers. The game leans into chaotic action with simple controls and fast-paced combat. Each level throws new bosses and hazards at you while the dwarves trade jokes between punches. The game’s standout is its over-the-top aesthetic, think graffiti-covered orcs and giant mutated rats, paired with a surprisingly goofy narrative about kid geniuses and rogue military experiments. Multiplayer adds to the fun, letting friends take control of each dwarf. Though it’s easy to overlook due to its 1996 release, fans of local co-op brawlers with a bit of attitude might find it oddly endearing.
Four children genetically engineered by the army grow up to be child geniuses instead of perfect soldiers, prompting General Briggs to use them to manufacture weaponry. To escape, the children play their favorite role-playing game and lead the party - a trio of slow-witted but heroic dwarves - to a gateway into the real world. The dwarves' equipment burns up during atmospheric entry. They land in a sporting goods store and make use of the equipment inside for their weapons and armor. The monsters from the role-playing game world have followed the dwarves into the real world, and the dwarves must battle their way through them to find the children and confront General Briggs
