About

Thunderbirds casts you as three kids with special skills who team up to save their guardians from a criminal mastermind. Switch between characters in each level using their distinct traits, Alan’s brute strength and jumps, Tin-Tin’s telekinesis, and Fermat’s hacking and rolling mobility. The game alternates between top-down puzzle solving and brief flight sequences piloting the iconic Thunderbirds vehicles. Missions take you from a tropical base to an Alaskan oil rig fire, a deep-sea dive, and a space station. Combat and platforming elements mix with environmental puzzles requiring precise timing and character swaps. The game’s split between adventure and flight modes offers varied gameplay despite the GBA’s limitations. It adapts the 2004 film’s story while nodding to the original 1960s series’ spirit. Saffire’s design emphasizes accessibility over complexity, with challenges that feel rewarding when solved through creative use of each character’s abilities. While not a technical showcase for the platform, it captures the escapist thrill of the source material. Vivendi’s 2004 release leaned into franchise nostalgia but didn’t dominate reviews, most remember it as a decent, if unremarkable, GBA title.
