Tokyo Majin Gakuen Gehouchou: Keppuuroku mixes turn-based strategy with clan management in a gritty reimagining of 19th century Japan. Players lead a faction through political schemes, resource battles, and tactical combat as they vie for control of Edo. Each decision affects alliances, internal stability, and access to mystical artifacts. The gameplay balances micromanaging troop movements with long-term governance, requiring players to adapt to shifting power dynamics and supernatural threats. Set during the fall of the Tokugawa shogunate, the game layers demonic invasions onto real historical tensions. While not as widely known as later entries in the Tokyo Majin series, this 2004 PlayStation 2 title carved a niche for fans of strategy-RPG hybrids. Its blend of feudal politics and fantasy elements offers a distinct take on the genre. With deep tactical layers and a focus on faction survival, it remains a quiet standout for players seeking strategy over action.
In the Bakumatsu era in 1860s feudal Japan, the dynasty of Tokugawa shōguns are continuously attacked by rebel groups that wish to end the shōguns and restore the Empire. Young people all over Japan united into different clans and organizations, wishing to conquer the power in the capital city Edo. At this time, divine and demonic creatures also started gaining power under the leadership of Tenkai Kodzunu. The hero is Tatsuto Hiyuu, an ancestor of Tatsuma Hiyuu, the main hero of earlier Tokyo Majin games.
