Tokyo Xanadu eX+ mixes real time combat with deep RPG systems in a story about a city hiding dark secrets. You play as Kou, a student pulled into a shadowy realm called the Eclipse after a massive earthquake reshaped Tokyo a decade prior. Battle through hordes of enemies using a combo of melee and ranged attacks while managing a party of unique characters. The game layers turn based strategy elements onto its action core letting you tweak abilities and gear between fights. This enhanced version adds new scenarios and playable characters to the original 2015 release boosting replay value. Running at 60 FPS on PS4 PC and Switch makes the chaotic battles feel smoother. Aksys Games released it in 2016 as a standalone package that includes all prior DLC. The Switch port lets you tackle Xanadu’s demons on the go while the PS4 and PC versions offer higher fidelity visuals. Nihon Falcom’s reputation for deep systems shines through in the character progression and skill tree design.

Storyline

"10 years ago, a colossal earthquake devastated Tokyo and changed the lives of its inhabitants forever. The city has since been rebuilt and life has slowly returned to a semblance of normalcy. However, behind the veil of this newly rebuilt metropolis lies another world, one with a sinister secret. The earthquake that originally destroyed Tokyo was actually caused by the emergence of a mysterious and lethal shadow world known as Xanadu. Now, action must be taken to thwart the legions of Xanadu and ensure the protection of Tokyo!"
