Tomb Raider: Gold is an expanded version of the classic 1996 adventure game. This edition adds two standalone chapters set in Egypt and Atlantis. In the first, Lara explores a flooded city and uncovers a temple dedicated to the cat goddess Bast. The second follows her return to Atlantis to dismantle a mutant hatchery. Gameplay focuses on 3D exploration, puzzle-solving, and combat as Lara navigates ancient ruins and hazardous environments. The Gold Edition significantly expands the original experience with over 30 new levels. Community reviews highlight the improved level design and refined mechanics introduced here. While the DOS version remains most popular, the game also runs on modern mobile platforms. The Egypt chapter’s water-based puzzles and Atlantis’ action sequences offer fresh challenges for fans of the series. With over 2 million copies sold in its initial release, this edition helped solidify Lara Croft’s status as a video game icon.

Storyline

Shadow of the Cat: After recent floods in Khamoon, Lara returns to the local tomb to make further studies of the mysterious cat statue. When she returned, she saw that the main chamber was completely flooded - making more areas accesible and opening new opportunities for exploration. Lara explores new areas of the city and eventually uncovers the existence of a temple dedicated to the cat-goddess Bast, which houses a huge golden cat statue. Unfinished Business: Once satisfied with her raiding, Lara heads back to the remains of Atlantis. Her goal is to finish off the last survivors of the Atlantean army and destroy a well-defended mutant hatchery, so that they may never trouble mankind again. After accomplishing this, she leaves Atlantis through an underwater tunnel. She hasn't returned to Atlantis since.
