Tomb Raider: The Prophecy shifts the series to the Game Boy Advance with a top-down perspective that blends action and exploration. Lara navigates quasi-3D environments filled with traps, puzzles, and enemies, using runs, jumps, and gunfire to progress. The game relies on a password system instead of traditional saving, letting players pick up near their last checkpoint. Missions unfold across global locations as Lara hunts three ancient stones tied to an ominous prophecy. The overhead view distinguishes this entry from prior 2D handheld titles, offering tighter control for acrobatics and combat. While the lack of save points may frustrate some, the password system keeps sessions manageable for portable play. Released in 2002, it serves as a compact adventure for fans seeking a portable fix, though it lacks the depth of later console entries.
Lara Croft discovers a manuscript which speaks of a mysterious occult magic which will bring desolation on earth in the near future. This prophecy also talks of three legendary stones which are linked with the mentioned devastation. Fascinated, Lara travels around the globe in search of these fabled stones. Along the way she'll meet enemies both human and otherwise and will also have to deal with dark magic of sorts.
