Tomomi: Denkitomodachi is a short visual novel from indie developer Dodo where you play as Haru Takamoto. After moving to an isolated village for university, Haru finds himself lonely until he meets a strange girl named Tomomi. She behaves like a robot with some serious quirks and seems uninterested in anything around her. The story follows your attempts to get to know her while she navigates her own path toward becoming human. It plays out as a single player experience that leans heavily on dialogue and character interaction rather than complex mechanics. The game stands out for its quiet tone and the specific dynamic between two very different characters. You do not have to worry about combat systems or resource management here since it focuses entirely on the narrative and how relationships develop over time. Players often appreciate the way the story handles the concept of humanity through Haru's interactions with Tomomi. It is a concise title that delivers an emotional punch without dragging out the plot. The simplicity allows you to focus on the details of their growing connection in this small town setting.
After moving away from his home town to enrol in a special university, Haru is completely alone for the first time in his life. His family are all back home and he has no friends in this strange village in the middle of nowhere. Independence is what he wanted and he's sure as heck going to get it here. Not long after settling in he has an encounter with a strange girl with some unusual quirks. He wants to get to know her, partly out of boredom and partly because she was cute, but how does he approach a girl who seemingly has no interest in him, or anything else around her, for that matter?
