ToolBoy is a retro-inspired platformer where a repair robot uses tools as abilities to navigate levels and uncover secrets. As the bot solves puzzles, he earns new skills like wall jumps or laser vision, which open paths and reveal hidden areas. A disconnected computer provides intermittent help, offering clues or temporary power-ups. The gameplay balances precise jumps with logic puzzles, set in maze-like corporate offices filled with traps and hidden corridors. The game’s charm comes from its homage to classic platformers, with bite-sized levels that escalate in complexity. Community feedback highlights the satisfying progression system, where each solved puzzle feels like a key to new possibilities. While it lacks multiplayer, the single-player campaign’s blend of exploration and nostalgia appeals to fans of old-school 2D adventures. Its simple art style and chiptune music keep the tone light, even as the story hints at deeper corporate intrigue.
A story of a repair robot who during the weekend, instead of enjoying his free time watching a speedball game on a planet nearby, has to go to work and fix a malfunction in one of the corporate buildings, as he's usually the one to be called in such cases. By accident, he discovers a corporate management plot regarding a new project related to the department of power. Unfortunately, the conspirators notice they are being overheard.
