About

Toshinden is a 2009 Wii fighting game developed by DreamFactory that lets you pick from eight characters and battle in 3D arenas. Combat blends hand-to-hand techniques with weapon-based moves, letting you roam stages freely. The single-player story mode includes anime-style cutscenes tied to its War Budokai tournament narrative. Arcade mode and a combo trainer add replay options. Multiplayer lets you test skills locally. The game stands out for its mix of close-quarters and weapon combat, a feature not seen in prior Toshinden titles. It launched exclusively on Wii in Japan on December 10, 2009, with no sequel or Western release. While its 3D design and story mode were praised, its limited character roster and niche platform release kept it from wider recognition.

Storyline

It is titled War Budokai, roughly translated as War Tournament. While previous Toshinden installments feature mainly weapons-based combat, War Budokai features hand-to-hand combat alongside the weapons-based battles. A total of 8 characters were unveiled in official illustrations. The game was released in Japan on December 10, 2009.
