Touch the Dead is a fixed-path shooter built for the Nintendo DS touchscreen. You guide a character through wave after wave of undead enemies by tapping and swiping at targets on the lower screen. The stylus lets you aim and fire at zombies’ limbs or heads while moving along a set route. Reloading requires dragging a clip icon from one corner of the screen to another. Weapon swaps happen via the D-pad or face buttons, with options to suit left or right-handed players. Scattered crates and cabinets drop ammo or restore health, and shooting switches opens doors or reveals branching paths, though both choices lead to identical rewards. The game leans into simple but frantic controls that make the most of the DS hardware. Created by Dream on Studio and released in 2007, it carries a cultish box-art design by Marvel Zombies illustrator Arthur Suydam. While not a critical darling, its tactile gameplay and zombie-slaying repetition carved a niche among DS action titles. The lack of varied paths might feel limiting, but the focus on quick reflexes and chaotic tapping holds up for short bursts of mindless fun.
