About

Touhou Hisoutensoku is a standalone fighting game expansion from Twilight Frontier that adds five new characters to the Touhou series' combat roster. Released in 2009 for PC, it functions as a paid expansion to Scarlet Weather Rhapsody but plays well on its own with local co-op and split-screen multiplayer. Battles feel fast and precise with the franchise's signature over-the-top attacks, set against abstract backdrops that mix surreal visuals with the series' usual charm. The roster includes fan-favorite characters like Sanae and Cirno, each with distinct movesets and personalities. The game leans into the chaotic energy of the Touhou universe while maintaining the tight mechanics expected from Twilight Frontier's previous work. It sits between the series' bullet-hell shooters and other fighting spinoffs, appealing to players who want deep combat systems and quirky narratives. With a small but dedicated player base, it holds up as a niche entry in the franchise. The story follows a mysterious metallic object in the mountains, giving characters a silly yet engaging reason to clash, all told through static panels and character banter.

Storyline

One early morning, a large human-shaped object appeared in the mountains, spewing steam, before disappearing into the mountain fog. Sanae, Cirno, and Meiling all saw the mysterious thing. Sanae thought it might be a giant robot; Cirno was convinced it was a daidarabotchi; Meiling believed it was the Taisui Xingjun. Each of them set out to confront the mysterious thing.
