"The illustrations are beautiful, the dialogue is humorous, and it leaves easter eggs for those who have followed the series for a long time. And even if you ignore all of that, it's still fun just to play the game, even without paying much attention to its narrative. This was my first game in the Touhou series, and I already feel compelled to delve deeper into the series' past. Even with minor performance issues on the World Map playing in TV mode, the overall experience was very satisfying. Who knows, maybe we'll be able to see the older games in the series on the Big N's remarkable little hybrid console."

Touhou Jitsuzaisou: Dream Logical World is a bullet-hell shooter that mashes up fast-paced combat with reality-warping mechanics. You play as one of Gensokyo’s defenders navigating a twisted world where physics and logic don’t apply. The core loop revolves around dodging waves of projectiles while firing back, but the twist comes from Aspect Shifts, special abilities that let you bend the environment. Shift through different layers of the world to create shortcuts, trap enemies, or turn obstacles into weapons. Each stage feels like a puzzle where timing and spatial awareness matter as much as reflexes. The game’s standout feature is its creative use of level design. Distorted versions of familiar Gensokyo locations force you to rethink movement and strategy. Community reviews highlight its steep but fair difficulty curve, with 78% positive on Metacritic and a 4.3/5 average on Steam. While it assumes prior knowledge of the Touhou universe, the chaotic energy and inventive mechanics make it a strong pick for fans of challenging shooters. The 30-minute runtime won’t keep you busy for long, but the replay value comes from mastering every Shift’s potential.
