Traffic Department 2192 casts you as a hoverbike pilot navigating a crumbling metropolis in the year 2192. The top-down perspective lets you zip through streets while firing at enemies and dodging obstacles. Each of the 60 missions adds new goals like rescuing targets or defending positions, all tied to a plot following Lt. Velasquez’s personal struggles. Short cutscenes bookend each level to push the narrative forward without slowing gameplay. The game’s biggest draw is its balance of action and story for 1994 DOS titles. While the graphics lean into early ’90s simplicity, the mission variety and character moments hold up better than many contemporaries. P-Squared Productions’ focus on structured storytelling in a shooter format feels ahead of its time, especially with three distinct episodes offering over 10 hours of content. Still, the learning curve for outdated controls might trip up newcomers used to modern mechanics.
