"The last few Transformers video games bucked the trend of subpar licensed products, instead giving us the Transformers games we always wanted as kids. Perhaps the PlayStation and Xbox versions of Rise of the Dark Spark are just as high-quality as their predecessors, but on Wii U, Rise of the Dark Spark is everything Nintendo fans have come to loathe about movie tie-ins and multiplatform gaming: a lazy port with missing features that treats Nintendo players like second-class citizens."

You play as a squad of transforming robots battling rival factions in a side-scrolling combat game. Switch between vehicle and robot forms to tackle waves of enemies using punches, kicks, and weapon swaps. The action stays fast paced with simple tap-to-attack controls letting you chain moves and dodge obstacles. Each character has distinct abilities and upgrade paths to adapt to different challenges. The game leans into the chaotic energy of the Transformers IP with colorful visuals and fluid animations. While the story follows familiar animated series beats, the real hook is the variety of playable bots and the responsiveness of the combat. Released in late 2015 it still holds up as a quick punchy mobile experience. Available on Android and iOS devices since 2015. Single player only.
