Trepang is a side-scrolling platformer where you play as Wopley, a sea cucumber determined to escape an endless underwater cave. The catch is Wopley’s not exactly a strategic thinker, so the game hinges on reflexes and timing. Players navigate tight corridors, dodge waves of hostile creatures like starfish and squids, and use Wopley’s most bizarre trait, expelling internal organs, to clear obstacles and enemies. The controls are simple, the levels escalate in difficulty quickly, and the absurd premise keeps the tone light. The game leans into its goofy concept with charm, blending physics-based puzzles and frantic action. While the 2011 release date means it’s showing its age graphically, the core loops remain satisfying. Developed by Trepang Studios, it’s a short but memorable experience for fans of quirky, niche platformers. The real-world fact that sea cucumbers actually do eject organs adds a weirdly educational twist. Shorter than most modern games but packed with eccentricity.
