Trick or Treat is a DOS-era point-and-click adventure that drops you into a eerie small-town Halloween噩梦. You play a down-on-luck caregiver who starts work at a senior center in Devilsville only to find your predecessor vanished and your new charges acting... odd. The game tasks you with gathering party supplies for the residents' Halloween celebration before things take a sharply sinister turn. What begins as a routine day quickly spirals into a chaotic mix of scavenger hunts, cryptic dialogue, and escalating weirdness as the elderly guests reveal their dark intentions. The game’s biggest hook is its abrupt tonal shift from mundane to macabre. What starts as a quirky puzzle-filled day job becomes a survival struggle as the senior center transforms into a voodoo ritual site. While the 1994 release date and DOS requirements make it a relic, the juxtaposition of deadpan humor and horror tropes still lands. With a runtime of roughly three to four hours and a focus on inventory-based problem-solving, it’s a brisk, if unsettling, trip into retro adventure design. The twist itself is worth the ride for fans of offbeat storytelling.
You start your job on 31st of October and no sooner you reach the Care Center your car got stolen by the former Care Assistant. You enter the home and introduce yourself to all the old people and they all order you to get them various items for a Halloween party they are organizing tonight. Finding these items is the first part of your quest. The Halloween party turns out your worst nightmare when those innocent elderly figures at the center turn out to be the members of a dangerous sect only looking for someone they can use in accomplishing a gore and voodoo ritual. The ritual, as per their belief, can bring their dead Leader back to the land of the living. Your main quest is to assist them in accomplishing this ritual and help yourself out of this hell.
