You play a carpenter navigating a maze of incomplete squares you must fill to clear each level. As you move, obstacles like a rampaging gorilla, a flickering ghost, and a fire that can't be stopped roam the grid. The eraser is the worst, wipe out your progress by touching unclaimed squares. Your only defense is three quick punches to knock out enemies, though fire remains a constant threat. Each stage expands the play area pushing you to keep moving while juggling threats that grow more chaotic. Triple Punch stands out for its frantic mix of strategy and reflexes a rarity in early 80s arcade puzzlers. The blend of environmental hazards and physical combat creates tense moments as you prioritize which threats to tackle. With its December 31 release date it became a novelty end-of-year title but developed a cult following among retro arcaders. Its straightforward yet chaotic design feels surprisingly modern for its era.
