About

Tunnels of Doom lets you guide up to four characters through a maze of dangers. Each member has distinct abilities like brute strength or stealthy attacks. You navigate procedurally generated tunnels where enemies pop up unexpectedly. Combat happens in turns, with each character taking their shot. Scattered loot and buyable gear help you level up. Some areas hold fountains that randomly boost or hinder your crew. This 1982 title carved out early RPG territory with its mix of exploration and strategy. It supports both solo play and up to four players taking turns. The random encounters keep things unpredictable, and the character class system adds replay value. As one of the first graphical RPGs, it’s a curious relic that still shows off surprisingly solid mechanics for its era. The TI-99 hardware limitations make the visuals charmingly blocky, but the core loop holds up.
