TwinBee 3 is a vertically scrolling shooter where you and a friend take control of two ships to rescue a captured companion. The game simplifies earlier entries with adjustable difficulty settings and a "soul reviving" mechanic that lets you reclaim lost power-ups after losing a life. Levels feature fast-paced action and colorful enemies, with a focus on straightforward combat over complex stage design. Co-op play remains a core feature, letting two players share screen time and firepower. Standout moments include the game's use of PCM voice samples, which deliver quirky lines like the recurring "Poko Poko" chant during a stage’s conga music sequence. Each level also opens with a spoken name announcement, adding a minor but memorable audio touch. Though the final Famicom entry in the series, it retains the TwinBee formula while softening challenges for broader accessibility. A 2006 digital re-release via i-Revo introduced it to newer audiences.
Dr. Cinnamon was living peacefully with his three great-grandchildren in Donburi Island. One day, he asked the youngest to go on an errand by piloting the GwinBee aircraft. However, he never came back... The doctor was starting to get worried, when suddenly a loud voice resounded throughout the laboratory and said: "GwinBee is in my custody. My name is the Demon King Poko Poko". Quickly, he ordered his remaining two great-grandchildren to board the TwinBee and WinBee fighting airships and bring him back. And so, both courageous pilots set off on a journey to rescue GwinBee.
