Ugo Volt drops you into a flooded Lisbon where global warming has reshaped the city by the twenty-second century. You play as Ugo, one of the last humans fighting to secure a future for everyone else. The gameplay mixes third-person shooting with platforming as you navigate waterlogged streets and ruined buildings. You move across rooftops and swim through submerged areas while taking down enemies that roam the wasteland. The project began life in 1999 under a different name before evolving into its final form. The game has a strange history tied to its own production struggles. Move Interactive launched this title after facing financial trouble that eventually closed them down by 2008. While it never reached a massive audience, the story of its creation from a contest entry in Portugal is quite memorable for those who follow indie development.
